Business arrangements vary, but the following is proposed:

Step 1. Hourly rate for initial problem definition.

Step 2. Hourly rate for contract negotiation.

Step 3. Hourly rate for initial research.

Step 4. Hourly rate or negotiated flat rate for phases of the project, to be determined.

Hourly rates are based on negotiation and market value.
